The fungus responsible for it is found
in so many places, it is very hard to
take precautions to avoid infection. It
is also made more difficult to combat
by the fact that it is contagious even
before symptoms appear, so you could
catch it from someone who doesn't know
they're infected.
-
Learning about ringworm and
it's causes can only help reduce
the risk of infection
- Keep areas
used by a lot of people
clean –
especially locker rooms, showers,
schools, daycare centers and
nurseries, and gyms. Mats and
equipment should be disinfected
between uses.
- Do not
share hats, clothes, towels,
bedlinen, washcloths or hair
brushes and combs or other personal
items.
If you find that you are infected,
there are steps you can take to avoid
passing on the infection:
- Seek
treatment early, and comply
with it to the letter, even after
symptoms disappear
- Make sure that
all people you know that might be
affected are aware of your
infection, and make sure that the
person who infected you is aware
and receiving treatment
- Do not share
personal items such as those
listed above
- Have as little
close contact with others until you
are treated.
